The primary wharf at Pismo was in-built 1882, followed by a full-length pier inbuilt 1924 that was financed and constructed by William Woodrow Ward , who allowed full use of it by the general public. After it suffered appreciable storm damage, the pier was renovated once more in 1985. Pismo State Seashore is called for the city of Pismo Seashore.
