Firewood Alert: Due to the seriousness of a potential infestation from the Emerald Ash Borer, we are requesting that no firewood be brought into South Carolina State Parks from outdoors of the state. Huntington Seaside State Park is a canine friendly park yr round. Please keep in mind that all canines should stay on a leash now not than six feet always. Please clear up after your pet. Dogs are allowed on the south finish of the seaside. Dogs are prohibited in buildings, together with Atalaya and on the north end of the seaside. The north end extends from the beach entry on the north parking zone to the jetty.
Nature lovers also will benefit from the park’s broad number of programming, including the possibility to see loggerhead turtles and other endangered plant and animal species up close. The park’s freshwater lake is a sure-hearth place to see alligators and typically even a mink or two.
Lifeguard service is offered on the seashore from Memorial Day – Labor Day. Fireworks are strictly forbidden. The park, originally property of Anna Hyatt Huntington and Archer M. Huntington , was leased after his death and takes its title from him The 2500 acre (10 km2) tract was leased to the state in 1960 for use as a state park. Mrs. Huntington died in 1973. Atalaya was listed on the Nationwide Register of Historic Places in 1984, and was included within the designation of Atalaya and Brookgreen Gardens as a Nationwide Historic Landmark in 1984.
Camping Information: Each site, excluding the designated tent sites, has water and electrical hookups and is handy to scorching showers and restrooms. Some websites have sewer hookups. All websites have complimentary wi-fi entry. A number of sites accommodate RVs up to 40 ft, others as much as 30 ft.
